Day One - arrive in Dublin, where your private limousine will whisk you away to Clontarf Castle. Time to relax and unwind as you settle into your opulent surroundings. Perhaps a stroll along picture-perfect Dublin Bay before a relaxed evening meal in the fishing village of Howth?
Day Two - a leisurely drive west will take you to the medieval town of Athlone. In the shadow of Athlone Castle you will find Ireland’s oldest hostelry, Sean’s Bar. Stop for a drink before visiting the beautiful village of Cong and heading onwards to Ashford Castle, formerly owned by the Guinness family. This will be your home for the next two evenings. Relax in your luxurious setting and savour a warm Irish welcome. Whether you’re into horse riding, falconry, golf or cycling, you’re guaranteed to find an activity to suit your tastes.
Day Three - recharge your batteries in wild Irish landscapes of rugged hills and deep valleys. Let Connemara feed your soul, as you walk along its isolated beaches: the only noise you’ll hear is the crashing of the surf and the call of the seabirds. Visit the town of Clifden and mingle with the locals going about their day. Alternatively, let us take you to Roundstone for stunning views, a lively lunch stop and an evening visit to a local pub for some music. This is slow tourism, Irish style.
Day Four - after bidding adieu to Ashford Castle you will spend the morning (and have lunch) in Galway, Ireland’s cultural capital. Immerse yourself in the city’s colourful streets and become part of Galway’s richly sociable tapestry. Why not take a walking tour with a local guide and hear the city’s stories? See the sunset at the Cliffs of Moher before arriving in Dromoland Castle, for your evening meal and a relaxing armchair by the fire.
Day Five - take a short drive out into the Loop Head Peninsula to witness rugged coastlines with unique rock formations. Breathe in the salty air and take a walk that’s as energetic or as gentle as you wish. See the famous lighthouse at the end of the world or visit a local gallery or sculptor. Hungry? Why not visit the local pub for some freshly-landed seafood? Whatever you do, take it slow. The less you do, the more you’ll experience.
Day Six - why not indulge yourself with a later start? We’ll take you to the shores of Lough Derg, and the village of Killaloe before bringing you to Limerick. Wander the Georgian streets with a local guide for a short walking tour, visiting the Hunt Museum and St. John’s Castle after lunch. Then take the short drive to Cashel for an evening visit to the famous Rock. Experience a sumptuous overnight stay in the Cashel Palace Hotel with dinner in the Michelin star restaurant.
Day Seven - on the last leg of your tour, you’ll visit Kilkenny, Ireland’s medieval capital, taking in rich pastures and stud farms on the short drive there. With its beautifully-preserved medieval architecture, Kilkenny is a unique blend of the urban and rural. Return to the Cashel Palace Hotel for an evening meal at the hotel of its sister establishment Mikey Ryan’s pub. Enjoy some local craic as you make lasting memories.
Day Eight - depart for Dublin and Clontarf Castle via the monastic city ruins at Glendalough. An early arrival will give you the space and time to relish the memories of your tour.
